"Thank you for DogStarNYC, in general. The site speaks to so many kinds of interests; it discerns which qualities will appeal to many different tastes in a tremendous number of activities. I love how it encourages young people to pay attention to the unusual.

In New York we let so many teens walk around the periphery, mildly shell-shocked by life, while the information that they need to make sense of their world sits in the center of the room. DogStarNYC welcomes them into the middle of the room; the blog tells them how to walk there." - Stacy L.

After-School & Weekend Academy Opens Soon @ ICP for Teen Photographers

Dog Star is happy to spread the word about the Teen Academy at ICP. Their director, Katie Kline, has always been willing to help teens get into the workshop programs. Once, our student Jose wanted to apply but his family could not afford the $700 tuition. ICP offers Scholarships for students who have financial need - Jose's family qualified and he paid a reduced fee for the workshop. If you are a teen or know a teen who is SERIOUS about photography training this the best program in NYC for teens! Don't sit around thinking about it - get on it!  The School of the International Center of Photography is proud to announce our upcoming Spring and Summer 2012 Teen Academy course offerings. Registration for spring begins online Tuesday, February 21 at 11:00am. Registration for summer courses begins Tuesday, March 6 at 11:00am. Please note that these classes are in high demand and spaces fill up quickly.  If you are in need of financial aid, please complete and return the Scholarship Application to the address indicated by Monday, March 12 at 5:00 pm for spring courses and Monday, April 30 at 5:00 pm for summer courses. Students applying for financial aid do not need to register online. Incomplete scholarship applications will not be accepted. Scholarships are available for all classes. Download the application here.  Please note that there is a Photo I in Black-and-White prerequisite for the Photo II in Black-and-White and Photo I in Color classes, as approved by Community Programs staff. If you are unclear as to whether you should be in Photo I or Photo II, please call us at 212.857.0061 immediately to be advised. If you register for Photo II or Photo I in Color and do not meet the course prerequisites, enrollment in Photo I is not guaranteed. Currently, all Teen Academy courses are darkroom-based. We do not offer any digital classes in Teen Academy at this time.  Rising juniors and seniors, please note applications for our 2012–2013 Teen Academy Imagemakers program will be available in May and due in September. Check out what the current Imagemakers are up to here.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at 212.857.0058 or teen_academy@icp.org.  Photo above © Jonathan Gardenhire, Teen Academy Imagemaker
