"Thank you for DogStarNYC, in general. The site speaks to so many kinds of interests; it discerns which qualities will appeal to many different tastes in a tremendous number of activities. I love how it encourages young people to pay attention to the unusual.

In New York we let so many teens walk around the periphery, mildly shell-shocked by life, while the information that they need to make sense of their world sits in the center of the room. DogStarNYC welcomes them into the middle of the room; the blog tells them how to walk there." - Stacy L.

FREE! Saturday Academy @ NY Historical Society - Apply with your friends!

The New-York Historical Society in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History offers Saturday Academy, a free, seven-week program for students in grades 8–12 that offers American Studies and SAT prep courses. With no homework or tests, these courses offer fun and interesting information on the bits of history that don’t always find their way into the classroom.  The Application for the Spring 2012 Saturday Academy will be available beginning February 1, 2012. Please go here after February 1st to apply. Please note: The SAT Prep classes are open only to students currently enrolled in 10th, 11th or 12th grade.  History buffs are not always known for their math skills. Mathletes do not always become novelists. But the SAT will test your critical reading, writing and math skills, so you better be prepared. Join this class to bone up on all three and also learn some tips for taking the test. All students registered for these classes will also receive printed practice materials to use on their own as they continue to prepare.  Please note: The SAT Prep classes are open only to students currently enrolled in 10th, 11th or 12th grade. Students who register for another class will be given preference in enrolling in the SAT Prep class. Requests to enroll only in the SAT Prep class will not be approved until after all students who register for another class as well are enrolled in the SAT Prep class.  The other classes, on topics in American History, will be announced in January 2012.  For dates of classes and more info go here.
