"Thank you for DogStarNYC, in general. The site speaks to so many kinds of interests; it discerns which qualities will appeal to many different tastes in a tremendous number of activities. I love how it encourages young people to pay attention to the unusual.

In New York we let so many teens walk around the periphery, mildly shell-shocked by life, while the information that they need to make sense of their world sits in the center of the room. DogStarNYC welcomes them into the middle of the room; the blog tells them how to walk there." - Stacy L.

FREE! Urban Word / Knicks Poetry Slam Prelims at Nuyorican Poets Cafe

DOG STAR knows many, many poets, rappers and spoken word performers.  A few of them have made it to the Preliminary Rounds of the Urban Word / Knicks Poetry Slam.

In these rounds, poets are eliminated in slam competitions until each round produces a group to move forward.  The winner of each round goes on to the next round - the Semi-Finals - and then the winners of the Semis go onto the Finals at the Apollo Theater in March!

This FREE event is held during January at Nuyorican Poets Cafe on the Lower East Side.

Event Details:

Saturday, January 9 AND Sunday, January 10

3-6pm
Free Admission

These are two separate preliminary round events with different poets competing at each event.
