"Thank you for DogStarNYC, in general. The site speaks to so many kinds of interests; it discerns which qualities will appeal to many different tastes in a tremendous number of activities. I love how it encourages young people to pay attention to the unusual.

In New York we let so many teens walk around the periphery, mildly shell-shocked by life, while the information that they need to make sense of their world sits in the center of the room. DogStarNYC welcomes them into the middle of the room; the blog tells them how to walk there." - Stacy L.

See "Juan & John" for less than a movie and get ready for some time travel!

DOG STAR saw Roger Smith's "Juan & John" today at the Public Theater.  Powerful, imaginative and emotional one-man show about the impact an event on television had on a young kid in 1965.

Roger inhabits his characters and brings us all on a journey of redemption as he comes to terms with his own personal demons and intertwines them with the national picture playing out on television.

We wrote about the show in an earlier post so scroll down for the links to more information, videos and ticket connections.

For less than the price of a movie ($10.00!) you can enjoy creative powers from an actor/writer/performer at the top of his game!  (We would be so wrong to omit mention of Mark Anthony Thompson's incredibly effective and moving images projected on the large wall during the performance!)

Photo in this post is of Dominican baseball legend Juan Marichal who is the "Juan" in the title of the show.
