DOG STAR readers know a lot about today's film legends but there was a time in American culture when "film legend" was used a little more, shall we say, with taste and distinction. In today's world someone is a film legend if they've been in a film series (Daniel Radcliffe, Elijah Wood) or appeared in their first film and won an Oscar (Jennifer Hudson). This Monday night the New York Public Library (at the main building on Fifth Avenue & 42nd Street) will host a FREE tribute to Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. Fairbanks appeared in films in the 1930s through the 1960s. He is best known for playing in THE PRISONER OF ZENDA and appeared in over 100 movies.
